Each year,
universities and post-fundamental schools specialized in architecture and
construction vie to obtain internship opportunities within BMBC for their
students, in a context of limited access to practical based school or academic learning.
During the
current internship season, BMBC is hosting in construction sites two groups of
students from technical schools including Burundi’s oldest and famous
construction and civil engineering school “Ecole des Travaux Publics” (ETP) of
Gitega, and Lycée Technique de Buyaga based in Mbuye
commune, Muramvya province.
BMBC has
also been providing professional internship opportunities to scores of individual
graduates from universities and high school students seeking basic architecture
and construction experience,
As a
leading construction and real estate company, BMBC has set up an internal
academy established to build the capacity of administration, technical and
field staff to maximize productivity and quality of construction of works. All
recruits and interns have to undergo a capacity building practical program that
include intensive practicum on construction sites.
BMBC is currently one of very few construction companies in Burundi with capacity to retain dozens of staff and daily workers on a permanent base. This has led staff to a mastery level of best practices at every phase of construction project.
BMBC has
also made a difference by its holistic approach which involves several work and
production units working interdependently and concurrently towards the timely
completion of construction projects. In addition to the fundamental works of
architecture and construction, BMBC has initiated branches such as carpentry,
steel and aliminium welding, sofa and paints manufacturing.
In such
conditions, interns learning construction within BMBC have a greater exposure
to the latest construction, finishing and house equipment practices and
innovations which enhances their technical and project management skills and,
hence, their employability.
